COVID Protocol
Making music is hardly a matter of life and death. Although I’m hesitant to open back up for sessions, I believe there’s some simple and logical steps we can take to insure everyones safety and health. From my perspective, the two biggest factors are Time and Isolation. The virus can only live on surfaces for a few days at best, so sessions will be spaced at least 5 days apart. You can obviously book multiple days for your session, but I will not book a different group or musicians sooner than 5 days after the last group leaves. This is the easiest and most logical step to insure that the virus is not being transferred between groups of clients.
The second factor is Isolation, which is a bit more complicated. First of all, this is a personal/private facility. I don’t rent it out to other producers or engineers, so the only common factor between client groups is “me”. I’m committed to isolating myself as best as possible. The studio location is very remote, so that automatically takes care of the bulk of the issue. For the foreseeable future, the ONLY time I’ll be leaving the grounds is for food or anything else “essential”. I’ll have my mask on in public and an excessive amount of hand sanitizer. Aside from that, the ONLY people allowed into the studio will be clients. Those steps should largely mitigate chances of contracting COVID.
Although this is going to seem unreasonable, I absolutely will not allow more than 3 musicians/people during a session. Ideally, I would like to keep that at 2. PLEASE consider who is absolutely essential in order to track that day. I will not budge on this one. I feel like this is more than reasonable and takes into account the number of musicians needed to successfully track together in various genres of music (if live tracking is necessary). Again, I would prefer that we keep sessions at 2 people and myself unless a 3rd member is absolutely essential.
On top of all of that, I’ll also be vigorously cleaning between sessions. It’s obviously important to keep everything clean, but I believe most of the chances of contracting the disease will be mitigated by spacing out session. I think these steps will ensure we all stay safe and healthy and shouldn’t interfere with the recording process too much.
